Old Knaresborough

For its size, Knaresborough in Yorkshire has had a lot of history, starting with a Norman castle and including the oldest chemist shop in Britain and the soothsayer Mother Shipton. The town had much industry also in earlier days, especially linen. This illustrated history by Yorkshire author Paul Chrystal includes some of the industrial buildings, as well as the railway station and viaduct, leisure on the river, Belnkhorn’s boats, the Dropping Well, the World’s End pub, Knaresborough Zoo, the parachute factory and more.
