Paraguay (full name, Republic of Paraguay) covers an area of approximately 407,000 sq km with a terrain consisting of grassy plains and wooded hills east of Rio Paraguay, marshy plain near the river, and dry forest and thorny scrub elsewhere. Paraguay borders Argentina, Bolivia and Brazil, and is completely landlocked. The population of approximately 7,000,000 people comprises an ethnic makeup that is 95% mestizo (mixed Spanish and Amerindian).
