Eastern Africa
Eastern Africa incorporates a vast variety of geography, climates and people. The countries found in this part of Africa (Burundi, Comoros, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Réunion, Rwanda, Seychelles, Somalia, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe) range from huge mainland nations to tiny tropical islands. Eastern Africa is renowned for its scenic National Parks which offer a safe haven to many rare animals, and is home to vast lakes (including Lake Victoria and Lake Tanganyika) and Africa’s highest mountain, Mount Kilamanjaro (5,895 m). Eastern Africa has a distinct cultural division between Sudan and the ‘Horn of Africa’ nations, who have a Middle Eastern way of life, and the Ethiopian society which reflects its early Christian roots.
