Everyone is going 3-D crazy, new science – IBM Research Creates the World’s smallest 3-D Map. This brings low-cost, ease of use to creation of nanoscale objects.
IBM scientists have created a 3-D map of the earth which is so small that 1,000 of them would fit onto a ‘grain of salt’ The scientist apparently accomplish this their new breakthrough techniques using a silicon tip which is so tiny and has a sharp apex – 100,000 times smaller than a sharpened pencil, to create structures and patterns of 15 nanometers which greatly reduce cost and complexity. This new technique opens the opportunity to develop nanosized objects in fields such as electronics, future chip technology and many other sciences.
